Prom Safety is in Your Hands

Twinkling lights, music and romance are what every student dreams of filling their prom night. Being safe is not a typical concern, but it should be. Police are on alert for this event every year. What are they looking for? Are we safe going to prom this year?

“SRO’s [School Resource Officers] are mainly looking for drug and alcohol use, date rape, prom crashers, reckless driving, and other similar offenses,” said Officer Zuniga. The officers are there to make sure that everyone has a good time in a safe environment.

There have not been any serious problems in the past. “PHS students are always on their best behavior, but the danger is always there that bad things can happen,” said Officer Zuniga. If a student breaks the law the consequences are severe, from heavy fines, loss of driver’s license and possibly jail time.

So let’s all use our best judgment on this special night. We can make it fun without getting into trouble. We will show the rest of the school our PHS pride.
