Even though many already know that we have a Girls Flag Football team, they might not know how successful it was this season. Since the girls new flag football was introduced to Passaic athletics they have been making history ever since. There is literally now the talk of the school after they received a victory against Paterson Kennedy High School with the final score of 26-0. What a great night for PHS sports shutting out a rival team.

What made that night even better was that it was PHS senior night. There were many supporters at the game. It was a chance for everyone to see how great PHS athletics is. The girls really represented the best of PHS athletics all season long. There is recognition throughout the flag football teams, and PHS is making a statement.

Supposedly there were recruiters looking at some of the teammates from this year’s PHS flag football team. After an interview with the captains from the team, Nicauly Perez and Desiree Santana, they stated that they are extremely proud of how far the team has come because they had a rough start due to their lack of knowledge about the sport at the time but they have improved a lot and all of their morning practices that take place at 6:15 a.m. paid off. You don’t see many people willing to wake up so early almost everyday of the week knowing that they have school after to get better at the sport knowing that the sport isn’t officially considered a Varsity sport yet.

Erianna Espino Ventura was named a Phil Simms Hgh School All Star.

After the season had finished it was announced that a player from the Passaic High School girls flag football team, Erianna Espino Ventura, was part of the All Star selection. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!! Erianna is a multi-sport athlete since she also does swimming and she is a senior.

Erinna stated “It is also hard to believe that I had received this award since this is only my first year playing and learning about the sport and even after many injuries that occurred throughout the season I never gave it and it was all worth it. I would love to thank my coaches for giving me the opportunity of being a part of such an incredible team and my teammates for pushing me, and making sure I am the best version of myself on and off the field.”
