African American History Display in Library Media Center

By Angel Garcia

We all know that February is African-American History Month, but other than the morning announcements, sometimes there is not much else going on. Mrs. Elder in the Library Media Center decided to bring that spirit of exploration to a display of African-American Culture in the Media Center.

The display as visitors enter the library showed various items from Ghana and Mozambique, and were donated for display by Mr. Martin, Mrs. Shultz, Mrs. Canela and Mr. Wolverton. The artifacts were collected by these teachers through travels and just things they like. For example, Mr. Wolverton said, “I just like rhinos.”

Thank you to all the teachers who contributed to this wonderful project, and thank you to Mrs. Elder for putting it together. Be sure to get to the Media Center to check it out before it is taken down.
