Catching Up with APEX Learning

By Dexter Ramos

For many of us, the need to recover only one or two course credits is all that stands between us and walking the grass. We all want to graduate and show some pride. PHS offers many alternative options and support for every student to succeed. Students who need it can take advantage of APEX Learning Comprehensive Courses and make it possible to address the learning and credit needs of students.

With APEX Learning, student are supported while challenged to succeed. Students taking APEX Learning courses for credit recovery use the same rigorous, standards-based content as regular classes and so they get the same credit as a regular course. Once you are in the program there are different ways to get support while taking the course. It is great that once you start an online course you can get help. They don’t just leave you hanging to figure out a problem or a project, you get the support you need to complete each task in the course.

So if you get into this program to get on track, make sure you put your effort into it, learn what you need to learn and succeed. The little pretests make it so your lessons are tailored more to your own learning level. I have found it very helpful. Do not let a course or two stand between you and the pride of the grass. There are many options for us, luckily here at PHS, to get caught up and get the support and learning we need to graduate.

So, students who are not on track to graduate on time should take advantage of this program as soon as possible. Talk to your guidance counselor. You can sign up for a maximum of three courses and you can meet in the morning from 7:15 and again after school. There is even one course on Saturday (not my choice, but it is there) which runs from 8:00 to 1:00.

Signing up for Apex credit recovery is one thing, committing to the program to get the most out of it is another. You have been given a great opportunity to make up for a past mistake, so don’t let the opportunity pass you by. Good luck and we can meet on the grass in June.
