PROM 2019!

Legacy Castle

By Yeni Hernandez Flores

For years, as long as I can remember, all I wanted to do is get to senior year and go to the Prom. It is not just a dance, but also a celebration of all the years we have been in school, and that it will end soon is a little sad, but also exciting. It is a chance to get dressed up, have a fancy date, and pretend to be ROYALTY.

The theme of this year’s senior class is royalty. We really did feel like royalty too. The venue for the prom this year was The Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains. It looks like a castle too. As everyone drove up in the best car they could get a hold of, and stepped out all done up, we felt so special.

It was such an amazing feeling one you walked through the arch into the castle. Seeing everyone dressed up in gowns and tuxedos was so nice.

“It was pretty dope,” said Nasier Norman.

On the big balcony everyone was provided stunning views, just like looking out on your subjects, you know, if you were royalty. The views were incredible, but just being there, seeing all your friends that you have known for years, being together was great. Everyone was so happy.

Music at a dance is critical, and the DJ was great. He played a pretty good mix of songs so that everyone had a chance to hit the floor. The music and the lights got the crowd hyped up.

All that dancing makes you hungry and thirsty. There was a big buffet that went all night long. Genny Rivas said of the food, “The mini burgers and mini cheesesteaks were so good, I was cleaning off everyone’s plate.”

There were also cocktails and even a variety of desserts afterward.

The committee that created the decorations should be congratulated as well. The crown centerpieces were so beautiful. They added to the whole experience.

The prom this year was a huge success. Students had a great time. Mr. Maisonet said, “I am so proud of my senior class. They behaved so well. Truly they are royalty.”
