New Engineering Class in 2016

By Dyani Moreno

The curricular options in our school have been expanded this year, as an engineering course is being offered for the very first time. Engineering is the study of science and technology that seeks to improve the world around us through design, manufacture and operations.

Mr. Martinez, an engineering teacher at Passaic High School, has stated that the engineering is about “finding solutions theoretically but also building the solutions.”
Studying engineering offers us the opportunity to see and understand how many things are made. In this class, the students will learn the basics of what is required to go into the engineering field.

There are volumes of aspects of engineering, but the simple basics can influence and create interest in this necessary and growing field.

In fact, after taking the engineering class at Passaic High School senior year, there is a chance that a student can obtain a scholarship to college.

Engineering class will help students learn about how to approach designing or planning different types of projects. It is a challenging class that will stimulate students to truly think outside of the box.

As Mr. Martinez has said about the class, “the first steps into learning the whole entire process of the engineering field is by learning little things that will eventually come all together in the process.”
